Jersey’s senior citizens are in for a Christmas bonus after all, thanks to one generous benefactor.
All Islanders over 70 can pick up £110 in vouchers from parish halls to spend in the Co-op.
It’s a present from local philanthropist Sir David Kirch who gives out around £1 million each Christmas to the Island's senior citizens.
Sir David who’s been giving out the vouchers since he turned 70 in 2005 was named Britain’s top philanthropist in the Sunday Times Giving List back in 2013, the same year he was knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for "services as a philanthropist to senior citizens of Jersey".
He's lived in Jersey since 1973.
