An islander has issued an appeal to find the owner of photos he found inside an antique monks bench, as he believes they "may be of sentimental value".
Charlie Phillip got more than he bid for when purchasing a monks bench at auction this week.
Pictured: The black-and-white photographs depict a stylish young woman named 'Angèle'.
After taking the bench home, Charlie found some mysterious black-and-white portraits inside.
The photographs are of a young man and a young woman, who is understood to be called Angèle.
Pictured: Charlie is hoping the spread the word through the power of social media.
Believing that the photographs "may be of sentimental value to somebody", Charlie posted them on local Facebook groups 'Ask! Advise! Advertise!' and 'Unseen Jersey' — a platform which aims "to discover, uncover, and bring to light the hidden histories of Jersey".
He invites anyone who recognises Angèle - or knows who previously owned the bench - to come forward and "bring to light" the story behind the images.
