Skies to be set alight for 120th Battle

Wednesday 27 July 2022

Airborne fireworks gliders will be lighting up the skies as part of celebrations for the 120th anniversary of the Battle of Flowers.

Aerosparx will soar over St. Aubin’s Bay during the Day Parade on Thursday 11 August, then reappear with wing-fixed pyrotechnics for a fireworks finale to the Moonlight Parade on Friday 12.

“We’re delighted to welcome back the team from Aerosparx, especially in our anniversary year, having appeared on numerous occasions,” said Battle of Flowers Parade Director Jackie Donald.

“They guarantee a real ‘wow’ and have become a firm favourite amongst Battle audiences who will have the perfect view of their performances from the arena.”

This year’s Battle will also see the return of the Funtazia travelling funfair at People’s Park after a three-year absence.

“Along with our traditional fairground rides we’ll be introducing some new ones this year and it’s all systems go,” said owner James Cole.

“We’ll continue to abide by any government guidelines that are in place and all our rides are sanitised after each use. We can’t wait to come back to Jersey and join in the celebrations for Battle’s 120th anniversary.”

The funfair will be open daily from Friday 29 July to Sunday 14 August, and tickets for the Battle of Flowers parade are now on sale.
