Two local pooches have bagged themselves some treats after being snapped smooching by the fire.
After catching Dougal and Webster romancing, owner Sarah Wheedon decided to enter the shot of the cosy pair into JSPCA’s ‘Doggy Date Night’ fundraising competition.
Each entrant was asked to send a photo of their puppy date on 3 February, and a minimum donation of £2, to the animal charity.
It was then up to the island’s Facebook community to choose the winner.
Competition was ruff, as JSPCA fundraising manager Michelle Parker explained: “We… had some fabulous photos come in, from Bella and Brian’s first date, to Otto and Kate’s sleepover, so skateboarding pooches.”
But, with more than 400 ‘likes’, Dougal and Webster snuggled their way to the top spot.

“Automatically thought of Lady and the Tramp,” one commenter said, while another noted it would make “a good calendar photo.”
JSPCA’s Michelle said it was an image “that even Disney would envy!”
Dougal and Webster excitedly received their awards yesterday - treat-filled doggie goodie bags.

“Thank you to everyone who entered and all the donations that were given in return. We hope to hold more online competitions throughout the year,” Michelle added.
In the meantime, those wishing to lend the charity a helping paw can donate to the Animal Shelter's new ‘£1 Pledge Campaign’.
“We are hoping that our incredible 10,000 Facebook followers will all pledge £1 each to help support some of our JSPCA projects. Just £1. That's less than a cup of coffee!” the charity explained.
“We don't receive any Government of Jersey funding, so we depend on the kindness and generosity of individuals, groups, businesses and organisations to support the work that we do.”
To help islanders see how far their money could go, they have created a thermometer with their targets, ranging from creating a new bird of prey flight to help with rehabilitation (£5,500) to relocating the oiled bird unit (£15,000) and refurbishing the isolation unit (£25,000).

So far, more than 100 generous people have donated nearly £1,500.
