Jersey's Maternity Unit has had a special delivery thanks to the big Baby Bean Appeal that launched this Summer.
Three charities have been raising money to kit out the General Hospital with a set of wireless foetal monitors.
The monitors give mums greater freedom of movement during labour, especially those with high risk pregnancies, greatly increasing the chance of a normal birth and a positive birthing experience for both mums and their families.
UK's Baby Lifeline, together with Jersey based Philips Footprints and Friends of SCBU, launched their special appeal and held a big gala event in June to raise money for the specialist equipment.
Head of Maternity Julie Mycock said: “The CTG Telemetry machine that has already been donated has been absolutely fantastic, and there is already high demand for it on in the unit amongst staff and women.
"The feedback from the women during labour has been really positive, and the midwives on the ward love using it. It will be wonderful to have more machines to use in order to give all women in Jersey the most positive birth experience possible. The machines have enabled and promoted active birth, and we are extremely grateful to Philip’s Footprints, Baby Lifeline, and Friends of SCBU!”
The charities have now ordered another three monitors and are still fundraising to buy one more.
