Beauty store and pharmacy chain Superdrug is planning to set up shop on Jersey’s high street to replace an empty store at Charing Cross.
A planning application shows that Superdrug intends to bring its first store to Jersey by moving into the former Mothercare store.
The beauty retailer currently runs around 800 stores across the United Kingdom and, if the application is successful, this will be its first store in the Channel Islands.
This application comes after a series of improvements to regenerate the area around Sand Street and Charing Cross, including pedestrianising large sections of road and creating Pitt Street, home to a new gallery and coffee shop.

Mothercare’s Jersey store was just one of the retailer’s 60 outlets which closed at the end of June last year as part of a ‘restructuring’ of the business.
Commenting on the prospect of Superdrug moving onto the Jersey high street, Town Centre Manager Daphne East said: "I would like to say how pleased I am that this particular site will be filled as it's a significant footprint in the town centre.
"...We must keep retail in the mind of government at every opportunity so the decisions made in the States Assembly proactively encourage and support a very important industry for Jersey."
If Superdrug's application is approved, the retail space will be filled for the first time in more than six months.
