Jersey’s very own Hollywood superstar Henry Cavill will be flying in for the Jersey versus Guernsey rugby showdown of the year, the Siam Cup.
Henry, who is currently putting the finishing touches to two major movies, is coming home for the game, which is being held in support of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.
The actor is an Ambassador for the trust and a keen rugby fan – he says there’s nowhere he’d rather be when the game kicks off on 2nd of May.
“Being a rugby fan and someone who is keen on protecting the wildlife of this world (rugby players included) what better place to be than at the Siam Cup with Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust,” he said.
“It sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic event. You’ll find me about the grounds and clubhouse throughout the day, hopefully with a pint in hand!”
You can get tickets to join him at the game here.
Henry is currently finishing post-production for his second screen outing as Superman opposite Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and for his role as Napoleon Solo in the rebooted The Man from UNCLE.
His trip to Jersey will be a busy one – he’s due to take part in charity auctions, a bucket collection and a chance to meet rugby fans.
JRFC chairman Bill Dempsey said that he was delighted that “Superman” had answered their call.
He said: “We’ve been hoping that Henry would be able to find room in his busy schedule to make it back to his home rugby club. We’re anticipating a big crowd, a fantastic atmosphere and the chance to raise some serious funds for the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, a cause that is very dear to his heart.”
