A couple returning to Jersey to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary got the red carpet treatment from Blue Islands this week.
June and Eric Davis met while working in Jersey, and married at St Clement’s Church in 1964. When they arranged to come back to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, the airline laid on a surprise bottle of celebratory champagne and a special cake from Michelin-starred chef Shaun Rankin.
Eric said: “We are both totally overwhelmed, it was a real shock. Firstly we were upgraded by Blue Islands to the Bristol Airport Executive Lounge and started wondering what was going on, but we certainly didn’t expect this.
“The service has been fantastic, it was a brilliant surprise and great to share the moment with the other passengers.
“I certainly won’t forget Blue Islands and look forward to flying with them again. The flight was great and the people we met were lovely.”
The couple met while June was working as a nurse and Eric was working in the motor trade. They went on to live in London, South Wales, Zimbabwe and South Africa before returning to South Wales in 2006.
Blue Islands Managing Director Rob Veron said: “We take great pride in our customer service and going the extra mile for our passengers is all part of the experience.
“On this occasion we were delighted to provide our welcome difference service to June and Eric celebrating a fantastic landmark anniversary. Congratulations to them both and we are pleased they chose Jersey for their special break.”
