Take five to have your say on crime

Islanders are being asked to take five minutes to complete an online survey designed to give Jersey Crimestoppers an insight into public opinions on crime.

The independent charity hopes the results will help to improve its services, which are dedicated to fighting crime across the Bailiwick.

Crimestoppers provides an anonymous route to pass on information about crime with the guarantee that no one can ever find out who passed on the information.

Volunteer Chairman Niall McClure said: “Crimestoppers exists to give a voice to the public, particularly those who care about their community and making it safe. This initiative allows us to continue to ensure the voice of the public is heard. It should take about five minutes to complete and will be very useful in helping us understand how better to serve the community of Jersey."

The anonymous and confidential survey comprises 13 questions and all it wants to know of a personal nature is how old you are, whether you are male or female and in which parish you live.

The remaining questions are about what crimes are of most concern to Islanders, who should be responsible for crime prevention and to discover the public perception of what Crimestoppers does.
