Teenager accused of indecent assaults to appear in Youth Court

Tuesday 11 April 2017

A 16-year-old boy accused of indecently assaulting two women will appear in the Youth Court this morning.

He was arrested on Saturday morning and subsequently charged yesterday afternoon following two alleged incidents on Friday.

A 39-year-old woman reported having been approached by a man and indecently assaulted while on the Sugar Basin slipway at St Aubin’s Bay.

Under two hours later, a 52-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted while sitting on a bench at Jardin de la Mer in the Waterfront area of St Helier.

According to a Police statement, the women involved “have been supported by the Police and, whilst not injured, have been shaken by the experience”.

The alleged perpetrator has been detained overnight at the Greenfields Centre, a secure unit for youth offenders, and will appear before a Youth Court panel at 10:00.
