Town streets cordoned off following sudden death of man

Monday 22 October 2018

All three emergency services were called to an estate in town yesterday following the sudden death of a man in his 50s, who it's believed had fallen from a building.

Police cordoned off the streets surrounding Hue Court and asked islanders to avoid the area on Sunday afternoon, stating that they were dealing with an “incident” at the block of flats.

Eye witnesses reported having seen a man fall from the building.

At 20:20 last night, it was confirmed that a 51-year-old man had died.

Police Inspector Andy Bisson commented: “Emergency Services have been in the area of Hue Court, St Helier following the sudden death of a 51-year-old man at 1600 hours today. We are not treating this as suspicious.”

He declined to provide any further information.

Islanders have since shared their condolences on social media.

"Thinking of you all. Police, ambulance, fire service(s) and the families and friends of everyone involved. Thank you emergency services for all the amazing things you do for us every day," one Facebook user, whose comment was 'liked' by over 40 people, said.
