Two new Acting Harbour Masters were sworn in by Jersey’s Royal Court this week.
Connor Rault, who has recently joined Ports of Jersey as a Marine Quality and Environment Manager and Harbour Pilot, and Sophie Platten, who is Head of External Maritime Compliance, officially took on the role.
It allows them to carry out day-to-day oversight of the harbours, and exercise legal powers as needed.

Acting Harbour Masters can also uphold the local maritime laws and regulations and step in during Harbour Master Captain Bill Sadler's absence or unavailability.
Mr Rault's career in the maritime industry has included a diverse range of roles, providing significant experience in vessel handling, navigation, operational logistics, and safety standards enhancement.
Ms Platten used to be Marine Superintendent at Trinity House. She is a Master Mariner with extensive sea-going experience.
Their new roles at Ports of Jersey requires them to give directions occasionally on behalf of the Harbour Master to vessels and others.
