Going through your final-year college exams has to be up there as one of the most stressful things to do, so how about adding the race of your life with £100k up for grabs? But for two Super League triathletes, that's the reality...

Express caught up with new kids on the block Ben Dijkstra (GB) and Desirae Redinour (Canada) ahead of the opening of today's Super League Triathlon.

Ben Dijkstra (18), Great Britain

Cross-country wunderkind at just eight years old, Ben Dijkstra is a formidable competitor at just 18. His love for triathlon was sparked by reading a magazine, and since then he's ran, splashed and cycled his way onto podiums across the globe - most notably gaining gold medals at the Nanjing Youth Olympics.

This Leicester boy has just finished his A Levels, and is now ready to take on a Sports Science degree at Loughborough University, but first, there's the little issue of the Super League Triathlon... Here's what he had to say. 

 

Desirae Ridenour (17), Canada

She's 17, but a fast and fearless competitor. She's already broken Canadian Olympian Debbie Scott's 3,000 metre record by over 10 seconds at the Vancouver Island Track and Field Championships and she's lapping up acclaim at both global and local events... So what record is next on the agenda?

Express had a chat with the surprisingly chilled youngest sports star of the triathlon, who'll have the added advantage of starting in fifth position (it pays to be a junior, eh?). Here are her thoughts on everything from Super League to whether she'd actually heard of Jersey...
