A red wind warning has been issued as Storm Darragh is due to batter Jersey with severe gale-force-nine winds and 75mph gusts.
Islanders are being warned to limit travel, avoid coastal areas, and secure loose property this weekend as Jersey braces for blustery showers, hail, and storm-force-winds.
Winds are forecast to increase Friday evening, peaking during Saturday, mid-morning to late afternoon.
A red wind warning has been issued for the wider Channel Islands area.
The Severe Weather Tactical Co-ordination Group met yesterday morning to assess the situation, according to Government.
They warned that there could be an increased risk of falling trees and debris on the roads.
The government added that the storm is not forecast to be as intense as Storm Ciarán, which recorded winds up to Storm Force 11 with gusts in excess of 100mph.
While the island is expecting rainfall and blustery showers, the government explained that flooding is not anticipated and that infrastructure teams are currently clearing drains in key areas to minimise the risks.
Tidal conditions along with the wind direction (West-North West) pose no concerns for the south or east coasts.
Storm Darragh is the fourth named storm that has hit the British Isles this season.

But what local businesses or events have been affected?
The The Fête de Noué parade was meant to take place on Sunday evening. However, the Battle of Flowers Association has made the "difficult decision" to postpone the event.
The annual event has not taken place in Jersey since 2021 as a result of the pandemic in 2022 and the Haut du Mont explosion last year.
A total of 14 illuminated floats were meant to take part in the parade along a new route through the town centre towards the Parade where live bands and entertainers would conclude the festivities.
A statement from the Battle of Flowers Association said that they are "closely monitoring" the situation and are "committed" to rescheduling the event at a later date.
It read: "In light of current weather reports and forecasts of strong winds, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the Christmas Parade.
"As with many other events and attractions this weekend, the parade is postponed to ensure the safety of our exhibitors, performers, and attendees, which is always our top priority.
"We are closely monitoring weather conditions and are committed to rescheduling the parade for a later date when everyone can safely enjoy the festive floats, performances, and entertainment.
"We thank everyone for their understanding and support. Further updates will be shared via our social media channels as soon as possible."

The Jersey Development Company said the rink was closed for safety reasons until the winds drop.
In a statement, the JDC said: "The safety of our visitors and staff is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding in these circumstances.
"If you have tickets for sessions on these dates, you can reschedule them for a new session time at your convenience.
"As per our terms and conditions, refunds are not available, but tickets can be rescheduled for any dates available.
"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming you back to Jersey on Ice soon!"
