A warm fire, presents under the tree and a gentle tune in the background... a Jersey Music Service teacher is delivering the ultimate cosy Christmas Eve.
Over the Christmas period, Express is bringing you a series of Bailiwick Christmas Covers from across the island's diverse music scene, from instrumentals to pop classics.
Having graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2019, Dan Macfarlane moved back to the island at the start of the pandemic. He now works for Jersey Music Service as a peripatetic teacher.
On his choice of song, Dan explained: "I wanted to choose a reflective piece; something to make the listener take stock of all that’s happened this year. I think it’s a rather uplifting piece in its own way - 'next year all our troubles will be out of sight!'"
He added: "I wanted to arrange the piece with respect to the original melody. All too often it’s very easy to go ‘over the top’ with arrangements that show off ones musicality and skill, but I firmly believe the music has to come first."
