Jersey firefighters have praised a driver for her reaction when her car went up in smoke yesterday.
While the fire did leave her in “shock”, the islander behind the wheel was fortunately not hurt. She said she was “extremely grateful to the Fire team”.
Fire Service officers shared a video of the surprising blaze on Facebook last night, explaining alongside it: "Early this evening, Green Watch were mobilised to a vehicle fire.
"The crews were met with a car on fire with heavy smoke issuing from the vehicle, and quickly got to work with a high-pressure hose reel and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire."

Watch Commander Richard Ryan lauded the islander behind the wheel for her quick thinking, and said islanders should follow her example.
"Watch Commander Ryan would like to commend the actions of the owner by, getting out, staying out and calling 999. The same actions we encourage for any incident of fire," Jersey Fire and Rescue said.
