A local music school is set to open a new recording studio which hopes to provide students and tutors with a dedicated space for making music and producing videos.
The School of Popular Music (SOPM) is launching the studio in September, thanks to sponsorship from Sure.
The new facility will include a range of outboard analogue units alongside a complete digital suite, allowing students to learn both traditional music production techniques and modern digital technology.
It hopes to help students fully engage in the music-making process.

Founded in Guernsey in 2013, SOPM aims to create environments where students feel comfortable and free to express their opinions and ideas.
In 2021, the music school expanded to Jersey by integrating Chordz Music School and their tutors into the team.
The launch of the new studio follows calls from Jersey's music community for more music spaces, such as rehearsal rooms, studios, and performance venues.
These requests were outlined in a recently published 'Music Manifesto' – a report by creative industry consultants summarising the music community's views on how to improve the local scene.

Harrison Collins, General Manager at SOPM Jersey, said: "The recording studio is something that we have wanted to integrate at the school for a good while and now with Sure's help, we are able to facilitate producing industry standard music, both for ourselves and most importantly for our students.
"As a school we are passionate about our students writing and creating original music and now with this studio, we are able to inspire them with a facility that any musician would be proud of recording in."
Paul Acton, Sure Jersey CEO, added: "By sponsoring SOPM's recording studio, we are investing in the future of music education in Jersey.
"With supporting SOPM, we hope to provide students and tutors with the digital resources and music technology they need to reach their full potential and their musical dreams.
"We can't wait to hear the incredible music that will be created and recorded in this state-of-the-art facility."
SOPM produced a music video to celebrate the impending launch of the recording studio.
