Islanders will be able to watch their favourite screen stars under the stars as Jersey's first drive-in cinema will be launching this summer, with 60 films expected to be shown over a 15-day period.
In August, ‘The Jersey Drive In’, which is sponsored by Motormall and Jacksons, will be hosted over 14 nights – and 15 days – at Home Farm Equestrian Centre in St. Mary.
Islanders will be invited to sing along to 'electrifying' titles such as Grease, to time travel Back to the Future, cast a spell with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and find their wingman with Top Gun – all of which will be projected on a 46 metre-squared LED wall.
There will also be themed nights, competitions, and fancy-dress events.
The organisers have further announced 30 daytime showings of family-friendly movies to entertain children during the summer holidays, with films like Frozen, Despicable Me, and How to Train Your Dragon.
Organisers said: "Ticket prices will vary on the chosen position within the viewing area and times of the shows, with daytime family films being the cheapest option. Tickets (purchased here) for a car will range £29 per car to £49 for the blockbuster evening showings."
A previous attempt to establish a drive-in cinema at the Royal Jersey Showground in June 2020 to give Islanders the opportunity to "unwind in a safe environment" never made it pass the licensing stages.
