A touring exhibition of the world's best nature photography from the Natural History Museum will be displayed at Jersey Zoo later this summer.

The 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year' exhibition, which showcases images that capture animal behaviour and the diversity of nature, will be held in the Durrell Discovery Centre from 31 August to 29 September.

The competition, which began in 1965, now receives entries from 95 countries.

This year's contest attracted 49,957 submissions from photographers of all levels which were judged anonymously by an international panel of experts.

Rebecca Brewer, Interim CEO of Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, said: "This stunning display of nature photography is guaranteed to inspire and connect our visitors to the diversity of the natural world.

"The images are also a powerful reminder of both the beauty we strive to protect and the threats many species face."

Dr Doug Gurr, Director of the Natural History Museum, added: "We are facing urgent biodiversity and climate crises, and photography is a powerful catalyst for change.

"The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition reveals some of nature's most wondrous sights whilst offering hope and achievable actions visitors can take to help protect the natural world."

Entry is free for members, while normal zoo admission applies for non-members.
