The odds aren’t so hot for a white Christmas here this year.
Parts of the UK are already bracing themselves for snow and ice and Paris looks more likely to get a covering this Christmas but according to a local bookie's forecast - Jersey is not the favourite for snow.
Bookie Chris Benest from CB Sports Ltd said: “It’s 11/2 for a white Christmas in London and 4/1 for a white Christmas in Paris so I would be going for 10/1 for a white Christmas in Jersey and that’s snow to fall at the Met Office at the Airport between midnight on Christmas Eve and midnight on Christmas Day.”
Scotland is set to be the worst hit this week with around 10 cm of snow expected to fall on the mountains but it's looking much milder here.
Jersey Met’s duty forecaster Adrienne Le Maistre said: “It will be nowhere near as cold here but we’re going to stay pretty unsettled this week.”
Tonight's forecast says that winds could pick up to gale force eight tonight.
The Island last had a snowflake falling over Christmas in 2004 although the Met say it was more of a sleet shower and before that the last white Christmas was back in 1970.
