FESTIVE COCKTAILS: A family-inspired 'hug in a glass' from The Boat House

Thursday 02 January 2025

Originally from India, Deepak’s journey has taken him from Dubai to the UK, and now to Jersey – and today he's sharing not one but two festive recipes inspired by his father.

Express has partnered with the Jersey Hospitality Association for the '12 Cocktails of Christmas' series, which will showcase festive drinks from bar staff across the island, giving readers the chance to try their favourite seasonal recipes at home.

The cocktail...

Bar manager Deepak, who joined The Boat House in St Aubin three months ago, has shared two recipes with heartwarming backstories.

The first is a deliciously indulgent cocktail, the 'Nutmeg and White Chocolate Russian', that brings the perfect balance of sweetness, warmth, and spice.

He said: "This cocktail is like a hug in a glass, with vodka, Mozart and Frangelico joining forces to make your taste buds dance like they are at a Christmas party."

Originally from India, Deepak’s journey has taken him from Dubai to the UK, and now to Jersey – but his passion for cocktails started much earlier.

He said: “When I was a child, my dad used to buy overripe fruit from the market and ferment it into alcohol. This inspired me to start making cocktails, and I’ve never looked back!”
