Jersey's female cricket team have finished second in a major tournament - despite being the youngest of the competing teams, and many of the players having never taken part in a large-scale competition before.
Led by Captain Rose Hill, the Lionesses not only finished runners up in the European T20I Women’s Cricket Tournament, but also took home the title of Best Fielder (Chloe Greechan) and Best Young Player (Analise Merritt).
Hosted in Nantes, the tournament saw the girls play against older teams from France, Norway and Austria at Parc du Grand-Blottereau. With players aged 11 to 51, the Jersey team was the youngest of the tournament.

This was also the first time in three years that Jersey took part in the tournament, the results of which are included in the T20I women’s rankings.
In total, the Lionesses won four out of their six games. After losing against France and Austria in their first two games, they beat Norway by seven wickets (35 balls left), then France by five wickets (nine balls left), Austria by nine wickets (30 balls left) and Norway again this time by nine wickets (68 balls left).
While France eventually won the tournament with five wins, Captain Rose Hill said she was pleased with the results.

"Unbelievable tournament," she said. "I never expected to do that well with the young team of girls playing against women teams, with the youngest player never in ICC T20 tournament Nia Greig.
"We won four games and lost two games coming runners up."
In addition to Chloe Greechan and Analise Merritt being recognised in the final ceremony, Lily Greig came second in the batting with 102 runs in the tournament.
The Jersey team also won four 'player of the match' awards.
Analise Merritt won it twice for her batting and bowling, while Flo Tanguy and Ms Hill won it for bowling.
"As the Jersey captain I am super proud of the girls," Ms Hill added.
