Young islanders invited to create digital content for democracy week

Creative young islanders with an interest in politics are being encouraged to sign up to create social media videos for the States Assembly.

The States Greffe has announced an opportunity for anyone aged between 16 and 24 to contribute to Democracy Week by creating digital content.

This event runs from Monday 23 to Sunday 29 September, and aims to to inspire and inform islanders of all ages and stages of political engagement.

Successful candidates will film and edit short-form videos for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

They will also join the States Assembly podcast as a guest host or interviewee, to discuss young people and politics.

Participants involved will receive vouchers of their choice for their work.

Digital Communications Manager, Hayley Lockhart said: “We’re thrilled to invite young digital creators to shape Democracy Week 2024.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to merge a passion for politics with creative talent and gain invaluable experience.

“We can’t wait to see the innovative and engaging content that will be produced.”

Applications can be made as an individual, or as a group with friends and/or family.

Applicants should send a 60-second video explaining why they want to get involved to statesgreffe@gov.je, with their name and digital content preference by Monday 12 August.
