Young man arrested on suspicion of drink driving

Monday 01 July 2019

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after he hit a wall on La Grande Route de St. Jean in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The young man, who faces charges of dangerous driving and failing to stop and report, has been released on bail.

Police said the accident took place in the early hours of Sunday (30 June) on La Grande Route de St. Jean, close to the small T-junction with Le Chemin de Herupe, just before La Casa Room Interiors.

A wall was damaged and debris from the car was found around the scene. There would have been debris spread across the road that would have blocked or at least partially blocked the road and the car would have been damaged considerably when it left the scene, Police added.

The car was later located by Police, as well as its 19-year-old driver. He was not injured in the accident and has since been released on Police bail.

Officers believed the collision only involved one vehicle, a silver Ford Fiesta.

Anyone who saw the incident or has more information about it is asked to contact Police on 612612 or make an anonymous report using Crimestoppers' online form.

The appeal comes just as the Force has launched its summer drink-driving campaign.
