Jersey’s pop-folk band Badlabecques have given the Island an early Christmas present – a free download of a yuletide classic with a Jersey twist.
The band have recorded their own unique arrangement of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” – a seasonal classic made famous by the great Frank Sinatra.
The lyrics have been translated by Geraint Jennings of of L’Office Du Jèrriais, and the tune has been given a distinctly Badlabecques arrangement.
Lead singer and founder Kit Ashton said that the free download from their website here was the band’s way of saying thank you for all the support that they have had this year.
He said: “This song is an oldie but a goody, and hopefully gets that cosy Yuletide atmosphere… like the musical equivalent of a nice warm Christmas jumper!
“It’s a free download so it’s available to all, and also a gesture of goodwill and gratitude to everyone who has supported us this year. Mèrcie bein des fais à tous.”
You can also stream Badlabecques album from their website – and if you like what you hear, you can go to their free “Christmas Special” at the Farmer’s Inn in St Ouen on Saturday 20 December from 9 pm.
