An islander who was surprised to find a Jersey number plate on sale at a French market has launched an appeal to reunite it with its owner.

Matthew Wall came across the number plate in a market in the French town of Loches.

He posted about it on the 'Jersey Ask? Advise! Advertise!' Facebook group, promising that "it doesn't appear on any speed cameras!".

"We found it it here in Loches, France, and its been on it's holidays with us," wrote Matthew.

"I'd like to reunite it with the owner!"

In response, another islander shared a screenshot of a search of the vehicle registration which suggested the mystery plate possibly belongs to a 2005 silver Volkswagen van.
