Taking a dip into freezing cold water may be his thing, but Jersey's Iceman knows more than one way to cool off.
Russ Allchin has trained and coached in strength training for over 30 years and, whilst he spent many years fixing motorcycles, he says his focus is now on helping to "fix people" instead.
He is currently the island's only certified instructor in the WimHof Method, which is based on a combination of breathing, cold therapy and mindset, and "teaches people to get stronger, move better, breath better... and dunk them in the ice bath".
Whist ice baths can be used to help manage stress, as Russ recently told Bailiwick Wellbeing, he has now shared the other things he turns to to keep his cool...
...my wife and my boys - both rescue dogs, called Onslo and Max.
It's a great way to reset walking out in nature with my favourite people (yes, I call my dogs 'people'!).
I also enjoy walking the dogs, kettlebell training, Jiujitsu... and, of course, Ice Baths. I love to teach people the Wim Hof Method, I see a change in people so quickly, after 20 minutes of breathing!
...my home-cooked cottage pie.
It gets better every time. It's taken years to perfect the recipe. Otherwise, it's got to be my wife's Bolognese.
...coffee!
I get posh coffee from London - vanilla and hazelnut flavours.
...Ozzy!
Listening to the Prince of Darkness is quite relaxing - or if I'm practicing my breathwork, hang drum music.
...anything related to breathwork, movement, strength or updating research on what I teach.
...movies and series based on true events, like 'The Greatest Ever Beer Run' with Zac Efron... or 'Botched'!
