From munching on peanut butter snacks to immersing himself in sci-fi and "TV comfort food"... a lawyer-turned-illustrator has shared, in pictures, his favourite things he does to relax.
Having initially picked up illustration as a hobby, Theo Jenner and now works as an illustrator full-time.
He moved back to Jersey during lockdown after studying anthropology and working as a property lawyer in London. Since then, he has shown his Japanese-inspired illustrations in several places in the island and created illustrations for Awabi, Coopers and, more recently, the Jersey Lunar New Year Festival.
The word on the street is that being creative is a good way to relax so Theo not only share, but illustrated, what he does to unwind...
...peanut Butter! Crunchy, smooth, with jam, without jam, on toast, on toast with banana, with chocolate, in chocolate, from the jar... the list goes on.
There’s something about the salty yet sweet umami taste of peanut butter that brings me a lot of comfort and joy.
...I’m not a big drinker, but, when stressed, I find a glass of red wine is a great stress reliever and helps me sleep.
My non-alcoholic choice would be herbal tea like peppermint, jasmine or green tea.
...movie soundtracks. When stressed, I find silence or the sound of waves helps me to think and filter my thoughts. Otherwise, I listen to movie soundtracks, Morricone, Zimmer, Williams etc.
When I am feeling run down, I listen to Flight of the Conchords and the movie review podcast, 'How did this get made?'.
...sci-fi/fantasy books. I like to escape this reality as much as I can so I enjoy a good sci-fi or fantasy novel.
I am currently reading the Wizard of Earthsea. My favourite is Name of the Wind.
...often I watch something I’ve already seen - the equivalent of TV comfort food, like Star Wars, Disney, Ghibli, or Lord of the Rings.
