A 22-year-old football star from Guernsey has been given the captain's armband at Manchester United.
Maya Le Tissier joined the club two years ago on a permanent move from Brighton & Hove Albion and has now cemented herself firmly within the team.
The 22-year-old centre-back takes the armband from Katie Zelem, who departed the club this summer.
It’s been a big year for Le Tissier who contributed to a record 14 clean sheets in the Barclays Women’s Super League, as well as starring in United’s first ever Women’s FA Cup victory this summer.
She said: “It’s an honour to be named captain of this great football club and I will wear the armband with real pride, to help drive this team to success on and off the field.”
Last season, Le Tissier was jointly voted as the Reds' Players' Player of the Year alongside Ella Toone by their team-mates.
Toone has also been selected as the club's new vice-captain.
