RECAP: Who sped to success at the Jersey Rally?

Thursday 17 October 2024

Day stages and night stages, sun and rain, the exciting and challenging Jersey Rally 2024 had a little bit of everything.

The Roberts Garages-sponsored event culminated in victory for number-two seeds Sam Touzel and Max Freeman in their powerful 4WD Fiesta Rally2, while the number-one seeds James Labey and Robbie Hannah were forced to retire on the opening day.

There was a high attrition rate, with 21 retirements on Friday and in the end just 39 of the 87 starters taking part in the in the ceremonial finish celebrations.

The event welcomed drivers from across the Channel and the UK with Guernsey's best performer coming from Paul Trebert who had teamed up with Jersey navigator Kieran Gregory to claim third in Class C, up to 2-litres, and 11th overall.

That class was won by Steve Leonard and Sion Humphreys followed by the Escort of Welsh duo – John Morgan and Llinos Jones-Edwards.

The leading all Guernsey team was Chris Torode and Nick Saunders, who were second in the FWD2 class (front wheel two wheel drive) in their Peugeot 205, a minute behind Andy Corner and Ade Campo.

Torode’s son Angus and Matt Godfrey, another mixed CI crew, took third just over four minutes behind.
