Thursday 05 December 2024

The 24/25 Jersey Softball Indoor League has officially kicked off with three thrilling matches.

Taking place over the weekend, the first game at Fort Regent saw a strong performance from the Eagles as they took on the Express Auto Parts Tigers.

The Tigers kept it close early on, but the Eagles’ offence excelled as the game progressed.

Tigers were led by team MVP’s Teigan Sloan and Ryan Rebours to match their opponents like-for-like at the start.

However, powered by a strong defensive side and some key offensive plays led by team MVP’s Catherine Le Ruez and Adam Brandie, the Eagles pulled ahead in the final innings to secure a dominant 28-3 victory.

In the second match, the Ferryspeed Falcons faced the Marwyn Jersey Royals in a close game from the start. The Royals showed promise with some early hits, but the Falcons' lineup took over in the later innings.

With multiple home runs hitting the back wall, the Falcons built an insurmountable lead helped by a standout performance from shortstop Chris Fox. He and Jessica Parsons-Page, along with outstanding batting across the team, led the Falcons’ to their 77-14 win.

The Royals had their moments, with team MVP’s Holly Widdowson and Matt Satchell both contributing to the offensive efforts with a string of home runs.

The third game of the day saw a forfeit from one team, but a friendly scrimmage was arranged for new team to the league, Titans and 3CI Sport Flyers, ensuring everyone got some valuable game time.
