Seven lawyers from offshore law firm Carey Olsen have been called to the Jersey Bar.

After completing the Jersey law examinations earlier this year, counsel Lizzie Chamberlain, Julie Currie and Arindam Madhuryya, and senior associates Lyndsay Houlette, Mike Kushner, David Patterson and Nick Ghazi were admitted as Advocates of the Royal Court of Jersey.

Lizzie Chamberlain joined Carey Olsen's banking and finance team in 2022 and acts for both lenders and borrowers on a range of debt finance transactions, including real estate investment and development finance, investment funds financing and general corporate facilities. 

Julie Currie specialises in pensions. She advises pension committees, trustees, pension providers and employers on a range of pensions issues from scheme governance, compliance with law and regulatory issues, as well as day-to-day matters including amending existing pension schemes and advising on benefit issues.

Ms Currie is a qualified lawyer in Scotland. 

Arindam Madhuryya specialises in investment funds in Jersey, and regularly advises both established and emerging managers on the establishment, regulation and operation of funds vehicles, joint ventures, co-investment schemes and management structures.

He has worked on several high-profile fund formation matters and also regularly advises clients on portfolio acquisitions and corporate reorganisations.

Mr Madhuryya qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and as an Advocate in India in 2013.

Lyndsay Houlette advises on a wide range of commercial real estate work as part of Carey Olsen's property team. With significant experience in construction and infrastructure projects, she also frequently supports on high value, multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions and corporate financing.

Ms Houlette is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales. 

Mike Kushner advises on contentious regulatory matters within Carey Olsen's litigation team, specialising in financial services, franchising, international trade and sanctions. He is recognised for his Incoterms knowledge, managing legal risk in international supply chains and cross-border contracting.

Mr Kushner is admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales and as an attorney in South Africa. 

David Patterson specialises in corporate structuring and finance and has considerable expertise in advising on large-scale cross-border investments including funds through the use of special purpose corporate vehicles, partnerships and trusts. He was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2012. 

Nick Ghazi joined Carey Olsen's banking and finance team in 2017 and is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales. He specialises in advising financial institutions and sponsors on debt finance, in particular fund finance, real estate finance and leveraged finance. 

Ms Chamberlain, Mr Madhuryya and Mr Kushner received awards at the latest Law Society of Jersey's annual prize giving event which celebrated individuals who achieved the highest marks in this year's Jersey law examinations.
