Work has started on the Airport’s new £7 million air cargo centre that should be up and running this summer.
A team of local builders from Hacquoil & Cook Ltd are tasked with the major job of building the new single-storey centre to replace the current one.
The current tenants are expected to move into the 3,000 square metre building when it is finished and there will be room for others to set up shop too.
A two-story building housing offices and workshops for Jersey Airport’s engineering unit is also being built and should be ready in August so that it can move from the old hangar 4 building due to be demolished to make the taxiway and runway safer.
If Planning give the go-ahead private jet management company Hangar8 plan to build a new corporate aviation facility on the site of the old air cargo centre.
