EasyJet takes off to Edinburgh with new route

Friday 05 January 2018

EasyJet will soon be flying to Edinburgh from Jersey Airport after the airline announced a new route to the Scottish capital operating twice a week throughout the summer season, starting from 31 March.

Tickets to Edinburgh were put on sale on Thursday with fares starting from £9.66.

Edinburgh will be the eighth UK destination islanders can fly to directly from the Jersey Airport and joins existing routes to Belfast, Liverpool, Newcastle, London Gatwick, London Luton and London Southend. It is also the second route now connecting Jersey and Scotland, in addition to flights already available to and from Glasgow throughout the summer season.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, commented: “We’re really pleased to be adding even more destinations to our Jersey network and to be putting flights on sale today, allowing our customers to book early and take advantage of our lowest fares for both business and leisure travel.

“We’re committed to providing even more choice for our customers in Jersey and Scotland and the addition of this new route will help us to deliver long term, sustainable growth, providing passengers with a greater range of destinations, all with low fares and great service.”

Myra Shacklady, who oversees Ports of Jersey's route development programme, added: "This is great news to start 2018, which is a very significant year for both easyJet, Jersey Airport and Visit Jersey as it marks the 10th anniversary since the airline first started services in and out of the Island. The introduction of its eighth service I believe, clearly demonstrates easyJet's continuing commitment and confidence in Jersey."

Senator Lyndon Farnham, Jersey’s Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture, said that he was "delighted" that the airline have invested in a new route for Jersey.
