The entrepreneur behind a £450m consumer lending and insurance business has been named as the new Chief Commercial Officer of C5 Alliance.

Richard Welsh founded his business in Northern island before growing it across the UK and selling it to an international bank.

His new role at C5 Alliance has been newly-created and will see him collaborate with the core areas of expertise in the company to help clients achieve their objectives through technology.

Mr Welsh said that clients are concerned about security, pressure on margins, fees and revenue. “By understanding our clients businesses, we can help them achieve digital transformation so that they can better meet the needs of their own demanding customers whilst driving better efficiency within their own business," he added.

"We have realigned the C5 business to focus on three areas - Cloud Infrastructure, Security and Data Solutions - to support clients by delivering effective technology solutions aligned to their business strategy."

Scott Workman, C5 Alliance CEO, commented: “Richard’s appointment along with significant planned investment is part of our strategy to grow and develop the C5 business. In his own business he recognised that leadership, people and value were critical success factors and these are closely aligned to our own approach to business. His intimate knowledge of the local markets will be invaluable in delivering future growth for our business.”
