Friday 02 December 2016

A woman who's been responsible for HR at some of the Island's largest firms has been appointed a Director at Law At Work.

Mrs Pestana, who is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), has over 20 years’ experience in human resources.

Most recently she was Head of Human Resources for the Guiton Group, the publisher of the Jersey Evening Post and Guernsey Press. Previously, she was HR Manager at Jersey Dairy and Personnel Director at the Hotel de France.

A past Chair of the Jersey Group of the CIPD, Mrs Pestana is still a tutor / assessor at Highlands College for CIPD Foundation and Intermediate Qualifications. She is also a Fellow Member and tutor / assessor for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).  Mrs Pestana was a Board Member of the Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service from 2006 until 2012.

Mrs Pestana said: “I have known and respected the team at Law at Work for many years so I feel incredibly fortunate and excited to be joining such a forward-looking business. In my new role, I will be developing the Law at Work Training Academy, adding to the current offering of bespoke training for our clients. We will be providing training on a variety of employment-related issues, which will keep Law At Work at the leading edge in this dynamic sector.”

Kelly Flageul, Managing Director of LAW, said: “Recruiting someone of Lorna’s calibre and experience is clearly a coup for Law At Work and we’re thrilled to have her on board. Having been responsible for HR at some of Jersey’s largest firms, she has invaluable insight into the key issues that employers face.

“In the coming months, we will be launching new services for our clients which are now possible with Lorna joining the team. It is an exciting time for LAW and our clients will certainly reap the benefits of her appointment.”
