Fed up after Spring cleaning?

Islanders fed up with dusting around the clutter in their homes might find that a free valuation day, being held by Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions (D&B), is the perfect opportunity to find out if they can cash in on jewellery or antiques gathering dust at home.

D&B Auctions is owned by the Jersey based Stanley Gibbons Group and was first established in 1759. They cover all aspects of the fine art and antiques market.

Two highly experienced valuers, James Nicholson and Will Richards, both also Deputy Chairmen of D&B Auctions will be coming to Jersey on Monday 22^nd June. James is International Head of the Jewellery, Silver and Watches Department, and a qualified gemmologist. Will is a furniture specialist, and also values general items.

At a recent Channel Islands’ valuation day a Victorian moonstone and diamond brooch was brought in and the owner decided to put it into auction. The circa 1890 brooch made £1,600 in March. James Nicholson said it was a lovely find.

He said: "We have had some wonderful pieces brought in to these valuations, from valuable wine to a rare case watch from the 1700s. There is absolutely no obligation to put items into an auction, but we can talk people through the process if they are interested in selling."

Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions hold regular sales of fine art and antiques at their London and Newbury Salerooms.
