Former public sector deputy director joins Family Nursing and Home Care

Friday 27 April 2018

Family Nursing and Home Care (FNHC) has appointed Bronwen Whittaker, a former deputy director in the Health and Social Service Department, as its new chief executive officer.

Ms Whittaker has 37 years’ nursing experience and was in charge of system redesign for the island’s community and primary care pathways.

In her new role, Ms Whittaker will be responsible for key decision making and managing and overseeing all operations, whilst working closely with the committee, the senior management team and staff to develop FNHC and its services.

She said: "I am looking forward to being back in an organisation at the forefront of delivering nursing and care in the community and working with staff to help them further develop their skills and expertise. With my background in nursing, I can utilise my skills and knowledge to further develop the services on offer at FNHC, improve the organisation’s fundraising capabilities and prioritise providing islanders with the highest level of care."

Ann Esterson, chair of FNHC, added: "Bronwen’s background in nursing and recent experience helping to redesign the island’s community and primary care pathways gives her a rounded perspective of nursing and home care in the community which will be invaluable to FNHC. FNHC’s nursing services are fully commissioned by the States of Jersey, whilst our home care operation is now run as a not-for- profit commercial business. The organisation must continue to fundraise in order to raise funds to enable the organisation to provide extra training and development opportunities for staff and to purchase specialist equipment."
