Free valuations for your valuables

Tuesday 23 September 2014

Whether you’re looking for some spare cash in the run up to Christmas, or are considering selling some jewellery or antiques that have been gathering dust at home, you’ll be interested to hear that auction house Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions are holding a free valuation day next week.

The Deputy Chairman of Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions, James Nicholson, will be in the Island on Thursday 25 September 2014. He is the auction house's International Head of the Jewellery, Silver and Watches Department, and a qualified gemmologist.

Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions is owned by the Jersey-based Stanley Gibbons Group and was first established in 1759. They cover all aspects of the fine art and antiques market including wine and jewellery. The valuation day will take at the Stanley Gibbons’ Hill Street offices from 10 am to 4 pm.

Mr Nicholson will be focusing on jewellery, silver, watches and coins, but valuations for any fine art or antiques can be obtained on request. Anyone wishing to request a valuation can email: info@dnfa.com.

He said: "This year we have sold a lovely Rolex Dayona, 18 carat white gold wristwatch for £10,540, whilst a single stone diamond ring made £97,960. Good quality jewellery is always sought after and if you have looked after your items well you should see a good return.”

If you are unable to make next week's events, there will be five other opportunities in the coming months: Thursday 23 October, Thursday 29 January 2015, Thursday 26 March and Thursday 28 May. All the valuation events will take place at the Stanley Gibbons’ Hill Street offices from 10 am to 4 pm.

There is no charge for the valuations, and no obligation to place the items in auction although an expert can talk you through the process if you wish to proceed.
