For the third year Jersey Business is working with the Parish of St Helier, The Busy Queen Bee and the Customer Service Awards to create a programme of activity celebrating and promoting the importance of great customer service in Jersey.
Customer Service Week which runs from 3 - 7 October is an international celebration of the importance of customer service and the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis.
Jersey Business say the role of customer service in Jersey is absolutely essential in providing a positive, professional and heart-warming experience of the Island and that the impact of strong service practices is most obvious in the retail and hospitality industries where Jersey punches above its weight.
In the latest St Helier Mystery Shopping survey, conducted in October 2015, the average customer service score was 78% above the UK average of 77%. 21% of the stores were placed in the top ‘outstanding' category with three stores scoring 100% for the first time and no stores were placed in the lowest ‘poor' performing category.
As well as celebrating Jersey's customer service ambassadors, the week of activity will provide opportunities for businesses to discuss how their own approaches to customer service can be improved.
Dominic Jones from JP Restaurants will be talking about how their business has introduced technology in support of the customer journey.
A series of lunch and learn 'Interview with the Experts' will hear from international experts on ways to improve the customer experience through staff engagement and the physical environment.
Thursday 6 October will start with a breakfast seminar with Jersey's Professional Research Association giving top tips for effective customer research and will finish with the TravelSolutions Customer Services Awards that will be presented to those customer services professionals who have got the most public votes in the recent competition.
Along with the business focused seminars the Parish of St Helier will be organising two public events during which retailers themselves will celebrate and engage with their customers.
