Jersey Employment Trust opens town office

Friday 25 April 2014

An Island charity that helps people with disabilities and long-term health issues to find jobs has opened an office in town.

Jersey Employment Trust (JET) now has a base in Kensington Place for its Job Club and where those seeking employment can use search resources to write CVs, apply for vacancies and prepare for interviews. The office, at 46 Kensington Chambers, also has training facilities.

JET General Manager, Steve Pearce, said: “Having the new town premises will allow us to meet the increasing need for JET services given the current unemployment levels in Jersey. It is not always easy to find premises that are accessible for wheelchair users in St Helier; this facility has been able to meet that requirement.”

The Trust opened the office in response to user feedback, which highlighted the difficulty some people had in getting to the existing facilities on the Highlands campus due to transport difficulties.

The Jersey Employment Trust is a charitable organisation whose primary aim is to assist people with a disability and/or other long-term health issue to find and sustain open employment. JET is also based at Oakfield at Highlands College and Acorn Enterprises in Trinity.
