A Jersey man will become the President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations as it celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2023, it has been announced.
Steve Shepperson-Smith will become the second Channel Islander to hold the role at the nearly 10,000-member-strong organisation after Jason MacKenzie was President in 2017.
Mr Shepperson-Smith’s PR career started locally at Crystal PR and Image PR before he became Sure’s Head of PR.
He then moved to London, where he became Head of External and Internal Communications for Cable and Wireless, and is now a Senior Corporate Communications Manager for Vodafone where he leads PR for the company's Africa portfolio and global reputation management programme.
A CIPR member of 23 years and founder member of the Channel Islands group, Mr Shepperson-Smith also currently chairs the CIPR Finance Committee.
"CIPR is the best community in PR and consistently helps practitioners to build careers, businesses and lifelong friendships. In addition, our Charter mission to fight for ethical, honest and transparent communications has never been more important in an era of disinformation and fake news."
