Law firms in Jersey have featured strongly in this year’s edition of the Chambers and Partners High-Net-Worth Guide.
The guide, which were released on 22 July, rates the top lawyers and law firms for international private wealth, in addition to recommending leading accountancy firms, private banks, wealth managers, trust companies and other professional advisers to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients around the world.
Carey Olsen continues to be ranked in more jurisdictions than any other offshore legal provider and is now ranked in Band 1 for its trusts and private wealth practices in both Guernsey and Jersey.
The Jersey office, which has moved up to Band 1, is praised for its “great strength in depth” and partners who “have a wealth of experience and are very commercially orientated”.
Jersey’s head of the trust and private wealth practice, Siobhan Riley, is ranked in Band 2 and praised for being "excellent at solving complex issues" and being able to "deal with your headstrong, entrepreneurial clients".

Fellow partner Alexa Saunders (Band 2) has improved her ranking and is noted for "getting to the crux of an issue and picking up the details very quickly" as well as her "well-considered, straightforward and commercial advice".
Partners Keith Dixon and Andreas Kistler (both Band 3) have entered the HNW rankings for the first time.
Meanwhile, Appleby Jersey Partners Fraser Robertson and David Dorgan have been recognised in the guide.
A peer says Dorgan is a "very safe pair of hands", while a local fiduciary says: "He is very knowledgeable and experienced, especially around different cultural matters, which can make all the difference when working with international high-net-worth clients."
A market commentator says: "Fraser Robertson does big trust disputes and is well known in this area. He is a name I would recommend if someone was looking for a Jersey litigator."
Walkers’ Private Capital and Trusts Group in the Channel Islands has also seen promotions in the guide, which praises the team for its “excellent service to clients” and their “great knowledge of trust law”.

In all, the team now has five lawyers ranked across the Jersey and Guernsey offices, with independent referees reporting that the Jersey team is “very approachable and easy to deal with”.
Oak Jersey director Jean-Luc Piazza has been named as a “leading adviser” in the guide. The company’s listing says it occupies “a good space in the independent trust company area” adding that “they have got good strength in depth.”
Ogier received a top-tier ranking and five individual recognitions.
Global head of Private Wealth James Campbell was described in client feedback as "a highly respected lawyer here in Jersey with a good understanding of the Middle East."
Partner Josephine Howe was described by a peer as a "really good and capable trusts practitioner", while Katherine Neal, who is "very driven, very friendly and very passionate", was noted for her handling of trust and foundation matters.
Partner Sally Edwards, who leads Ogier's Private Wealth team in Jersey and has received a ‘Band 1’ ranking, was described as "technically brilliant" and "very pragmatic" with "a good eye for attention to detail."
