Isabel Freitas, 32, has been appointed Manager of leading local care provider Lavender Villa Home Care. Originally a beauty therapist and manager of a prestigious beauty concession, Miss Freitas progressed into the care industry eight years ago.

As a therapist she was approached to assist with the "Look Good Feel Better" group to help cancer sufferers with their hair and makeup needs. Miss Freitas realised she had great compassion for the industry and became a care worker at Highlands luxury care home, caring for people with special needs.

Miss Freitas has excelled in her professional development undertaking courses in British sign language and gaining her States of Jersey Health and Social Care qualifications.

Miss Freitas joined Lavender Villa Home Care (A States of Jersey fully approved home care provider) in 2012 as Deputy Manager to work alongside a project manager and seven employees. During this time Miss Freitas excelled in several courses including Jersey Employment Law, Coaching, Mental Health, Safe Moving & Handling trainer and most recently safeguarding vulnerable adults Pool Trainer.

Lavender Villa Home Care now employs 19 carers who are managed by Miss Freitas. She provides internal training for the entire care group. Miss Freitas speaks English, Portuguese a little French. Her aim is to utilise her language skills to benefit clients and staff alike. In her spare time, Isabel takes a keen interest in learning about healthy living, and enjoys cycling, swimming and travelling.

Chris Shelton, Director, Lavender Villa Group, said: "I am enormously proud of Isabel’s development within the company; she is a great asset and will be important to the progression of the Group moving forward. The company has grown exponentially since inception in 2012 and employees like Isabel, with genuine compassion and ability, are paramount to our success. She is a great inspiration to the team and much loved by our clients. With Isabel at the helm, I am confident that we will remain at the forefront of quality home care in Jersey."

Isabel Freitas, Manager, Lavender Villa Home Care, said: "I am very grateful for the opportunity to manage Lavender Villa Home Care; it fulfils an ambition I have had since joining the care industry. I will never lose sight of the importance of continued professional development and I intend to bring new knowledge and services to the Group as we continue to grow. I am proud to be working in an industry where we can help people to stay in their own homes and be safe and comfortable. I look forward to driving the business forward in 2015 and meeting many new clients."
