A Jersey advocate has been appointed to head Maples and Calder's new office in Jersey.
The law firm says it is expanding in Jersey to "respond to client demand" and will be providing local legal services in the corporate, finance and investment funds areas as well as listing agent services for the listing of securities on The International Stock Exchange (TISE) in the Channel Islands.
Chris Byrne, who will lead the firm here, will be joined by Simon Hopwood and Paul Burton.
Mr Hopwood is an investment funds expert with almost 20 years' experience specialising in private equity and real estate funds. Paul Burton is a corporate and finance specialist and Jersey advocate who has extensive experience in public and private M&A, corporate / investment structuring, debt financing and capital markets transactions.
These three senior hires will be supported by associates Anna Cochrane and Stephanie Edge and other lawyers who are due to start this autumn.
Mr Byrne said: "I am delighted to join Maples and Calder to assist with establishing the firm's presence in Jersey. Maples is a top tier international firm and I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues around the world to provide an integrated service to our clients."
Alasdair Robertson, Global Managing Partner, commented: "This office marks another milestone for Maples and Calder. We are excited to announce this addition to our global presence, which affirms our long term commitment to our clients, providing them with greater choice to complement our existing services."
