Mailmate printers have purchased the largest format commercial printing press in Jersey from the Sakurai Corporation in Japan via a UK dealership and installed it at their St. Aubin's works.

The Oliver 466SD LED will print on various substrates including plastic and acetate up to 600gsm so that includes packaging as well as brochures/booklets and leaflets.

It also has instant dry facility with the LED and a maximum sheet size of 660 by 508 millimetre.

The printing press was shipped from Japan and arrived on a 51 foot HGV lorry which weighed 42 ton when fully loaded with the equipment. This is the largest installation for Mailmates since their previous purchase almost 15 years ago and a considerable amount of logistical planning went into the moving operation.

Neil Faudemer, Managing Director, said: “This is a sizeable investment in very latest technology never seen in the Channel Islands before. This provides us with a complete solution to  print for both islands. The machine which uses LED print and drying methods is extremely environmentally friendly and eradicates the use of chemical process. We have seen significant growth in our print division especially in the financial sector and it is important we stay at the forefront. It is a very exciting time for the company as we have already made significant strides in also expanding our signage and wide format graphic division. “
