At the annual event attended by over 300 people, 11 awards were presented to individuals and organisations connected with a wide range of projects undertaken over the past 12 months.

As well as the Police Headquarters scooping the highest value project of the year award, other projects that were recognized included, the Energy from Waste Combined Works that was awarded the Ronez Project of the Year Award up to £1million and the Refurbishment of the De Gruchy Department Store that won the Channel Island Lines Project of the Year Award between £1-£5million. The new La Collette recycling centre won the Jersey Electricity Sustainability Award. 

“The annual Jersey Construction Council Gala Awards evening is always an opportunity to celebrate success and excellence within the industry,” said Martin Holmes, Chairman of the Jersey Construction Council. 

“A chance to reflect on the achievements from the past 12 months and also to consider further challenges that lie ahead for the industry over the next few years. With the increasing workload from both the Andium and Future Hospital projects coming to the market-place we have to ensure we are ready for this increased workload and planning is being undertaken to give as many local organisations the chance to be involved as much as is practicably possible”. 

“Education and training within our industry is of high importance to the Council and the Lifetime Achiever recipient this year, Cyril Roberts, is a classic example of someone starting in the industry from school and achieving his qualifications through Highlands College and remaining within the industry for over 40 years. The Council is encouraging this tradition of education and every effort is being made to train local students through either apprenticeships or the introduction of the new Engineering Degree Course at Highlands College that will commence next September that will allow local youngsters to train on-island with relevant work experience which can only be a benefit to our industry and the economy of the Island .”
