A new tearoom named after the actress Lillie Langtry has opened at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel.
Lillie’s Tea Lounge, which was formally opened by St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft at a reception on 15th February, is located next to the hotel’s main reception and overlooks St Aubin’s Bay.
The venue offers visitors a quirky alternative to afternoon tea, as well as an extensive range of classic, fruit and herbal teas.
"The renowned Jersey Lilly is one of Jersey’s most iconic characters. Her beauty and charm has been captivating visitors to the island for centuries, and we wanted to try and emulate this in the décor and delicious menu of our new tea lounge," said Christopher Peach, general manager at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel.
The menu at Lillie’s Tea Lounge has a range of hot and cold food available throughout the day, including breakfast bites, lunch items, a champagne bar and two types of afternoon tea. The ‘Classic Afternoon Tea’ menu includes traditional sandwiches, scones with Jersey clotted cream and jam, and a selection of mini desserts. The ‘Alternative Afternoon Tea’ is a four-course tasting menu comprising of classic teatime favourites with a modern twist.
"We wanted to create a relaxing lounge area where hotel guests, visitors to the gym and spa, or other visitors can meet up for a drink and a bite to eat at any time of the day. Our kitchen team have done a fantastic job creating an exciting menu that has all the charm of a traditional British tearoom, but with an element of surprise and excitement that gives Lillie’s a unique twist unlike anywhere else in the island," added Mr Peach.
As well as breakfast and afternoon tea, Lillie’s has a sweet menu available throughout the day offering a choice of American pancakes, teacakes, muffins, cookies and shortbreads. The menu also has a selection of nine classic, fruit and herbal teas ranging from English breakfast to vanilla rooibos, red fruit and morning dew.
Lillie’s has a feature ‘tea wall’ in the lounge, displaying a selection of tea tins and other tea memorabilia for decorative purposes. There is also a computer station available for guests so they can work online away from the reception area.
