An events company founded by a former Victoria College student has added another string to its bow by buying the assets of gameshow-inspired obstacle course business from administrators.
RaceNation Events, which is part of RaceNation, had bought the brand, together with the online and physical assets, of Rough Runner, a company that was a casualty of the pandemic.
RaceNation is run by Old Victorian Will Golder, who previously represented Great Britain in bobsleigh, and has a number of islanders on its team.
Mr Golder said: “After a tough period for the mass participation industry, we are delighted to not only be looking forward to the return of events, but to be expanding our RaceNation Events portfolio.
“While the RaceNation group has no connection to the previous directors or business of Rough Runner, we are excited to have the opportunity to be able to breathe new life into this well-established brand and continue its six-year legacy but with new ideas and events in the near future too.”
He added that Rough Runner’s game show-inspired obstacle course race, famous for its Travelator and Total Wipeout simulated challenges, would continue to operate around UK sites under the same name and with the existing Rough Runner event format and fundraising ethos.
Mr Golder said that the purchase was the next phase of expansion for RaceNation Events, who launched in 2020 with the merger of Immortal Sport, the long-running UK events company responsible for the Exmoor Triathlon Weekend, the Salisbury Half Marathon and Lemur Loop among other events.
