JFSC celebrates regulatory certificate success

The Jersey Financial Services Commission is celebrating success with the International Certificate in Financial Services Regulation.

In May, a number of employees from the JFSC and the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (IOMFSA) completed it, achieving a 100% pass rate.

Helen Hatton, Director at the School of International Financial Services (SIFS), said: “Both Jersey and the Isle of Man are considered among the best regulated IFCs in the world.

“The commitment of the local regulators to training aids their continued high standards and we are delighted with the 100% pass rate this year. It truly is a testament to the training and support of the JFSC and the IOMFSA.”

The certificate is a level 3 qualification studied over nine months and awarded by The Chartered Governance Institute UK and Ireland, a global governance body who set the international qualifying standard. 

Theresa Minnie ACG, Head of Outreach at The Chartered Governance Institute UK and Ireland, explained the value of the certificate: “I cannot stress how essential the International Certificate in Financial Services Regulation qualification is for anyone already working or aspiring to work within the financial services regulator environment.

“Robust and effective regulations and their enforcement are crucial to the smooth operation of financial systems. This qualification will ensure anyone working as a regulator acquires the skills and knowledge they need for a successful career.”

Jill Britton, Director General of the Jersey Financial Services Commission said: “Huge congratulations to this cohort of students for their 100% pass rate. 

“It is critical that we as a regulator, and as an industry as a whole, have continuous professional development and training. Our staff are at the core of what we do, and I am delighted to see them thrive with the School of International Financial Services and be awarded with this internationally recognised qualification.”
